Internship Opportunities

We are offering internships to high school students who are interested in learning more about individuals with developmental disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, etc…) The internship is open to students who will be 18 by August 1, 2025.
***$500.00 Flat Rate Stipend Available for those who complete 60 hours***
If you are interested in making new friends and meeting some extraordinary individuals, then this is for you.
The internship program consists of an online application, online interview, approximately 4.5 hours of online modules and then 60 hours of interning at an Adult Day Health Center. Currently we are working with the following adult day health centers; Lanakila Pacific, The Arc of Maui, Ka Lima O Maui and Easterseals Waimea on Kauaʻi.
This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in nursing, education, psychology, social work or the medical field. However, the knowledge you will gain from the internship can be applied to any field of work including human resources, business, politics, etc.
Goals and Objectives for the students include learning:

About different communication techniques (Visual aids, Sign language, Non-verbal behavior)

How to modify an activity and implement 1 activity in (art, music, physical exercise, self-advocacy, or another area of participant interest)

About self-advocacy

About issues and barriers individuals with developmental disabilities face daily and how that would relate or impact your future career path.
